Busy

I'm really busy these few days and probably still will be for the days to come. Tests and presentations are coming at me one after another so I didn't have time to update. What's more, I was terribly sick during the last weekend because of food poisoning and I vomitted 3 times a day, thus ending up with no time at all to post. Also, since I'm in the planning committee for the ES FBC this year, it's been eating up some time from me too. So this is just a quick update of my life. Bye. See you after the exams (which is after Friday the 13th).

Meanwhile, I wanted to add screenshots because Youtube decided to give me the opening song of the old animated Spiderman cartoon series instead of the usual ads but apparently I can't even upload any pictures from my computer and I think it's Blogger's fault.

So, I managed to upload pictures. Woohoo.

Pretty sure a spider should have 8 legs though.

Woman

Women are a balancing act
Don’t eat too much, don’t eat too little. Don’t be fat, don’t be too skinny. God do you ever stop eating? Woah do you ever eat? The not-so-well-concealed looks of disgust, the not-so-well-concealed looks of concern.
Don’t be loud. Don’t be quiet. Have a voice in society, leave the talking to the big boys. You want something, speak up! No, no, when it’s your turn, sweetie. Ugh, she never shuts up, it’s obnoxious. Have you ever heard her talk? I don’t even know what her voice sounds like.
Make sure your skirt is long enough, but not too long. Don’t make yourself too available, but you don’t want to look like a grandma. Show off what you got, but if you do it’s your fault if anything happens. Was your skirt long enough? How is any boy going to look at you if you wear that?
Have sex, but stay innocent. Give us what we want, but we hate sluts. Virgins are so sweet. What do you mean you want to stay abstinent until marriage? Do you even live in our society? Life without sex is boring. Life with sex is disgusting. God, have you seen her? She’s banged every guy in the school. God, have you seen her? Still a virgin at her age.
Be smart, but not too smart. Boys like a smarter girl. Boys can’t stand it when you know more than them. Play dumb. Ugh, not that dumb, god, weren’t you even listening? They like a smarter girl. No, no, now you just look like a nerd. Girls don’t belong in the classroom, they have to take care of the kids. You want a well-paying job? Take some incentive and study. You can’t slack off because you’re a girl.
Do what you love, but don’t. Be yourself, unless it goes against what we say. Do you love to do your hair and makeup? Great, you’re good to go. Approved. Do you love videogames and guns? You’re faking it. You’re lying. You’re pretending. You’re wrong

Balancing Act. A little piece I wrote because I'm tired of walking on the beam. (via bigsisterelsa)
Seriously. Set yourself free from this cycle of disapproval. Men will have no choice but to come around. (via flowisaconstuct)

Tattoo

Never too old for Henna.

There's NP Open House from Thursday to Saturday and since I had INNOVA project meeting on Thursday morning, why not take a look around after we're done. Anyway, we had to do the powerpoint slides for INNOVA from scratch and as a result, we couldn't finish them, much less plan for what we need to say. Let's just pray for the best this coming Thursday.

After the meeting was over, Shu Fei and I went to tour around the school as her being a year younger than me and I'm her tour guide for the day. We went to OurSpace hoping we could take the free goodie bag but to no avail, they just had to check our ez-link cards. Thankfully the CC are giving free popcorn and cotton candy to everyone. Hahaha. Such cheapskates we are.

*I went Tumblr-ing and I totally forgot I'm halfway through a blog post.*

Anyway, after getting the free food, we took the tour bus to the School of Engineering, SOE, and just have a look around. They were giving out free Kacang Puteh. Hehehe. Some of the booths are interesting such as controlling a virtual airplane (from AE or AT, I can't recall) and also playing with a remote-controlled car (from ME)! However, there are some booths which aren't entertaining at all. For example, our course's booth, there's a double pendulum displaying chaotic behaviour but I don't think the students would be really into stuffs like this. I mean, sure, it's what we do but I think we can also put up something more interactive with the audience and fun. All well. I think we visited almost all of the schools except for BA because we didn't have enough time. At the school of LSCT, they have Pills Making and Henna Tattooing (hence the Virgo sign at my wrist) and they also let out the lab-rats-kind-of-mice for us to just touch them. They're so soft, omg. We also visited the HS area and they let us use the stethoscope and listen to artificial heartbeats & breaths. And we walked around just looking through the other booths and avoiding lecturers who are trying to give us more details about their courses.

And on the last day of NP Open House, I had duty at the Convention Centre to entertain any queries about my course for 4 hours, no chairs available.
At first I thought it would be cool answering questions regarding my course and give them some of my insights and views, but I didn't think that there would be this little amount of people enquiring about Engineering Science.  It's like for the 4 hours I'm here standing like a statue, there's only 5/6 people who've come to ask about ES.
I was sooooooo lonelyyyyyyyyyy. Why won't more people come and ask about ES though. It's a young course with a name that sounds cool and two pretty girls modeled for this course, you know. I didn't know 4 hours could last this long. Just standing there, holding an engineering course book, and looking at all those teens and parents around me with other lecturers and students was what I did most of the time. What a way to spend my time. I could have been finishing up my INNOVA slides, research up on the Fourier Series for my EG2 project and fangirl over Jonghyun. On the bright side, I get paid for that. When it finally struck 16:00 on my phone, I'm getting outta there. I considered doing the NP cheer for the free T-shirt since Yub did ask me a favour but hell am I gonna cheer alone to get a free T-shirt for him. So I decided to get an iced Milo before I head home while thinking how useless I've been for 4 hours.

But when I was about to reach the Poolside Canteen. . .

"Excuse me", called out someone from behind which then followed by a couple of footsteps. I turned around and saw a guy who's wearing geek specs with a Malay lady.

"Do you know where's The Coffee Bean?" asked the guy.

"Oh, it's at Block 58."

"Erm, where's Block 58?"

'Ohh, they are probably potential NP students next semester', I thought to myself.

"I can bring you there."

"Really?!"

"Yeah, this school's pretty big so you might get lost if you two were to walk around alone.", is what I would have said if I was in a better mood but since I wasn't, I just nodded and started leading them there. While on our way there, I asked them questions like
"Are you two waiting for your O Level results?"
"Do you have any courses in mind?"
"Are you two a couple?" (I was just really curious, okay. They look so cute together.)
And the lady wanted to go to Aerospace while the guy wanted to enter Hospitality. Also, it seems like there an Aerospace workshop going on at Block 58. No wonder they wanted to head there.

"Well, Coffee Bean is just straight ahead so just continue walking and you'll find it."

"Oh! Thank you!"

"No problem." I said while I waved them good bye and proceed in the opposite direction.

"What's your name?"

I stopped, and turned, surprised by the sudden question. I stared at the both of them, thinking for a split second whether should I reveal my name to them and finally, I smiled lightly.

"Rou Shan."

"Oh, okay! Bye!"

I walked towards the Poolside Canteen to get my iced Milo as planned originally and

'Wow, I feel so much better now.' I thought as I subconsciously let out a slight grin. My steps felt lighter and I'm not looking down at the ground anymore.

Why didn't I feel like this after answering their enquiries at the CC though? I was helping them also, wasn't I?

Outings

On Christmas,
we had our annual Christmas gathering with all the relatives at my aunt's house. I didn't expect this year to be any more entertaining than last year's or any other year's because there's really nothing much for teenagers to enjoy there. Most of my relatives are married with children and the kids would play among themselves. So, yes, it's a pretty anti-social environment for me there. However, since my same-age-cousin, Juliana, has also been admitted to NP this year, there's more common topics for us to talk about! She's an anime fan like me, also learning Japanese, reads Manga, has a Tumblr account and we're school mates! (even though we're never met in campus before, not even once). But being able to close the gap between us made me all warm and fuzzy inside. I'm just so glad we're close again and I don't feel any barrier between us.

Also, my other cousin, belonging to the host's family, owns a freaking arcade machine inside his room. Well, not really the arcade machine but more like he got all the controls and connects it to a television screen and it's able to function as good as the ones in arcades. Something like this:

This is the controls.
And this is what it looks like in the dark.
IT WAS FUCKING AWESOME. JULIANA AND I JUST PLAYED THAT FOR THE REST OF THE NIGHT while the adults are busy socializing downstairs. Hah.

On the 2nd day of Christmas,
we had a belated birthday celebration for Brandon @ a Korean BBQ Buffet Restaurant located in NEX and the food is really good. Or should I say the meat was hella tasty, especially the beef. Mm hmmm.
And Shu Fei returned from Macau without telling me. -.- God dammit. Anyway, here's the goodies she brought back for me. Hehehe.

And after that, we went to catch Night At The Museum 3! Big Hero 6 was our first choice but we couldn't make it in time. :/ Anyway, the movie was not bad but in my opinion, it wasn't as good as the first or the second one. The solution to the plot was quite anti-climatic and there weren't much involvement of the original museum characters. It's still pretty funny though!

On the 3rd day of Christmas,
I went to my section's BBQ at Keith's house, again (we did the same thing last year too). Met them at McDonalds and waited for a few others to arrive so that we can go to Keith's house together. I've been there once but I'm really bad with directions and I probably still don't know how to reach Keith's house alone. Also, got to know one sec 1 (2014) junior and she's called ICE. Her name's cooler than you. Hahahaha.
And guess what. It rained heavily when we were only minutes into bbq-ing our food.

Hence, we had to bring all of our uncooked/raw food back to his house and burden his mom to cook it for us. The same thing happened last year too. We couldn't bbq our chicken wings because we're such amateurs at bbq-ing that the chicken wings turned out raw on the inside. Thus the generous mum cooked the chicken wings to perfection for us last year. For this year, there's not only chicken wings but also sausages, satays and prawns.. We all felt really bad but there's nothing we could have done with the heavy rain which lasted the entire night. All well. Next time let's just have instant noodles for BBQ. Albeit the killjoy rain, we still had fun playing with cards and I also learned a new poker card game! WOOHOO. Overall, I had no regrets coming to the section BBQ and you guys are the same as ever, still as lively and crazy as a year ago. As long as it's you guys, fun times are guaranteed.

On New Year's Eve,
I met up with the girls from secondary school to just hang out and celebrate the New Year's together. The plan was to order delivery food from KFC and one of the Pizza franchise but we ditched the plan because all the delivery services that day was too busy to serve any more customers. So, we had to go all the way back to Northpoint to get takeaway and some snacks just in case. When we finally got back to Amabel's house, it was nearing 10pm and Xin Lin had to go off to countdown with her fam. So before that happens,

And after that, we played card games and when the clock struck midnight, we managed to catch a glimpse of some of the firework displays from Amabel's house! It's really pretty and fancy, although it's considerably small compared to watching it on TV. Anyway, after that was BIGBANG's performance!!!!

Though all of my fangirl-ing skills must be contained within me as I'm infront of Amabel's family members. My image shall be maintained. But at certain parts of their performance, my fangirl side did got a little out of control but it was all good. No worries. Hahaha. Since BIGBANG's performance was placed the last and my lovely friends stayed with me till the end to watch them (although I can see that they were pretty bored by it), it got really late and there wasn't much public transport going around, so I got my parents to fetch them home, like till their HDB blocks. Now I know where they live

And that's about it. Maybe I should do a write-up on 2014 as well.
But I'm sooooooo lazy. Damn.
