Rose Quartz

My holidays are finally here! WOOHOO.

But, to be honest, this 2-week-vacation doesn't really give me the holiday mood as there's gonna be tons of shit to settle when school starts. So, it's more of a getaway from all the stressful matters.

Anyway,
My goal during this holiday:
  • Tidy up my room/desk
  • Exercise more often
  • Sort out my closet (get rid of those old clothes)
  • Stop overspending.
  • Drink tea everyday.
  • I don't really have a plan this holiday. Help.
I'll stop here for now and continue updating when I feel like it (when there's actually something worth posting).

How's Life

"How's life?"

What am I supposed to answer? What kind of answer do you expect?

So I went back to AMKSS for the band's POP and played for the recollection band. Sight-reading some of the pieces because they aren't my JBF pieces (they were the batch after mine's). We had a combination of batches because they missed out recollection band during last year's POP which was kinda sad. I wanted to play all of my JBF pieces with my batch mates once again. But nonetheless, I got to replay my part for Freefall and it's so awesome. Nostalgia came back to me.

Anyway, so a lot of people have asked me how I've been and I didn't know what kind of answer I should give them so I just said,
"Amazing."

What kind of answer were you expecting when you asked people that question? Do you want a summary of how my life had been since the last time we saw each other or perhaps you want the details of the major events I've been through ever since then or what? Can you be more specific?

"Hey Rou Shan, how have you been?" "Erm, amazing." "Hahahaha. Okay."

Or maybe you were expecting me to give you a negative answer about how my life have been so that I can complain about it in order to continue on the conversation? In order to not be looked upon as someone who is awkward with me?
Don't be that kind of people guys. If you want to have a long conversation with someone, at least be sincere and honest about it. Not saying the people who asked me weren't sincere though, I was just thinking if this kind of people exists. Maybe I just over-thought it.

ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ

Hey hey hey.
Sometimes, I regret enrolling into a polytechnic because many a time being a JC student seems to suit me better. You don't have to worry about CCA points, presentations for 3 modules, what to wear every day, the heaviness and inconvenience caused by a laptop and so on. Sure, JC students have their own problems too and they may seem to be more difficult to deal with. Truckloads of homework, English essays, punctuality, promos etc. But, you see, JC have it all planned out for you. Although they force you to do homework; give you extra notes; compulsory field trips or camps or enrichment classes, these are all for you. Yes, I know, I sound really cliche but I've finally realised it. In the past, I thought all of that were just restrictions keeping you from being free.

"What a pain in the neck for not to being able to do so many things." That's what I used to think and I still do, sometimes.
Well, being a poly student certainly has it's benefits too! Being able to dye your hair, wearing whatever you want to school, significantly lesser amount of homework, amazing facilities and FOUR CANTEENS WITH GOOD FOOD
Like does JC even allow you to wear accessories.
Anyway, it's obvious that there's so much freedom being a poly student compared to a JC student. However, the catch, is that you have to take care of yourself now that you're given your independence from rules and regulations. No one is gonna force you to do your homework, give you compulsory classes, much less forcing you to just study. You can fake your attendance by asking a small favour from your friend, copy answers during small tests and quizzes, and if you dislike studying, it's your call. Everything is up to you. No one is gonna take care of you.

Of course my secondary school teachers have mentioned this and the difference between the life in poly and JC. And I realised that. That's why I chose poly instead of JC. Because I want freedom. I hate being bounded by some rules and have always wanted to do whatever the hell I wanted. But I missed out something. Now that I'm all on my own, who is gonna help me improve myself? And by improving, I meant adding values to yourself.

In JCs, there will be activities which is probably a must-attend where you go to old folks' homes and do voluntary work or helping the needy. In JCs, you study about advanced concepts revolving the world of science, solving the world's toughest equation, improving your language skills and working your brain all the time. In JCs, everyone is studying like mad so as to ensure a bright future because where can they go if people don't see As on their A-Level certificate. In JCs, you're under peer pressure for a good reason, to improve yourself. You don't get that in poly.

In poly, there will be people who care more about having fun than making themselves a better person. There's nothing wrong about having fun though, I would love to enjoy myself every single fucking day. Waking up and feel rejoiced to be alive, hanging out with my friends and go shopping. Honestly, who doesn't want that? However, this kind of life doesn't last long, your money is gonna run out someday if you don't have a source of income. More importantly, what have you accomplished. Have you traveled around the world and see not only the beauty of it, but also the nasty and dark side of this reality. Have you stepped out of your comfort zone and do something extraordinary. Have you taken up extra lessons outside of school and passed their tests on your own ability. Have you led a group of people and take responsibility. Have you changed someone's life. Have you finally realised how small and unproductive and pathetic you are.

I'm glad I've found this out myself, without the help of teachers and friends. From now on, it's all about being independent and I'm gonna ace it. Bring it on, bitch.

I'm Packed

I have so many things that are waiting to be settled or sorted out, and I'm currently trying to clear off as much stuffs as possible on my imaginary to-do list. God dammit. Blogging is one of them though, so I'm getting it done right now. WooHoo

Things that need to be done/sorted out:
  • Finish Digital Logic online tutorial
  • Pack 5 outfits
  • Study for DAELN and DIGLG tests
  • Remove my nail polish
  • Study and understand all the Physics tutorials/lessons
  • Get my INNOVA team members together to get work done
  • My time management tomorrow (I can't afford to be late)
  • Get contact lenses tomorrow
  • My life
  • Be more useful
  • Productivity
  • CCA points
  • Money, bills, bank balance
So many things but so little time.

Things that are done:
  • Email to person-in-charge about C&I week
  • Reply to Jun Wei
  • Return my library books
I think that's all. This is pathetic. I gotta be more productive.

Okay, here's the end to a boring post. Good bye.

Names

All this time I've never given a thought about having an English name, because I was perfectly fine with my name and it's amusing to see how many ways people can pronounce it. Muahahaha. However, the time has finally came. The time when everything falls apart; the time when nothing fits; the time when it all comes down to one decisive moment.

  • Rae/Ray
  • Roxanne
  • Roy
  • Robin
  • Shana (This is an actual English name, I'm surprised.)
  • Raven
  • Ripley
  • Rosario
Yes, I'm going for trendier names. Hehehehe.
Well, it's just an artificial name, so I don't have to put so much thought in it but once I've decided on it, I can't change it. :(

Sweet

One fine day, while I was heading to Northpoint from the bus interchange, a dude approached me. Even though I was clearly avoiding potential promoters by listening to music from my headphones. He came up to me and introduced himself. He was scouting people. People who are willing to go for commercials/advertisements. In other words, talents
ME?!
Why me?
Do you need an eye check-up?

However, it's not decided yet, I'm just another option. Hehehehe. False alarm, guys. Calm down.

Here's a macaroon to soothe your hurt feelings:

Who are you

Who are you. Show yourself.

Hah, just kidding. You're welcome to view my blog! Thanks for coming! Hope you enjoyed your stay! :}

Hyperventilate

Hi, I'm sick. Down with flu and sore throat. Sucks to be me.

Anyway, I'll just update on some stuffs.
LyraKlaude said I'm one of her favourite followers. OMG. I'm HYPERVENTILATING. HELP.
Yes, that's me when I saw her ask. Holy.
Anyway, there's five facts about me up there so yeah. I've got nothing much to update to be honest. My eldest sister went to Japan and following that, Taiwan. Bon Voyage! I've asked her to buy me some souvenirs. Hehehehe.

Mighty Long Fall

Don't fall for it. Don't trip. Don't even lose your balance, because it may not be worth it, no, it may not even mean anything. Moreover, it means nothing to him. Rather, what you're feeling right now is useless. It not only hinders your concentration, but also makes you lose yourself.

Don't think about it. Don't notice. Don't even let it get inside your head. Nothing will change if you continue to keep this up, it'll only worsen your condition. Faster, get over it. C'mon, you can do it. It's not as difficult as you think it is. This is for the better.

Love can wait, but studies progress with time and time wait for no one.
Hurry and pick up your pace again.
Leave behind anything unimportant.

This relationship isn't going to get you anywhere, you know it.

"To you, I'm just one person out of many,
I pass you by,
I'm not special to you"

I'll give up.

Mugcakes

1st attempt:
6/10. It was okay-ish, it wasn't very moist. In fact, it was really dry and it hardens quick. Didn't really enjoy it much.

2nd attempt:

8.5/10. This was probably my most successful mugcakes by far. It was really moist and chewy. Although it was quite bitter at first, it turned out fine after a couple more bites. By the way, I used a different recipe this time round (there's no eggs in this one!).

3rd attempt:

7/10. The shape and how it turned out was really pretty (the first pic!), look at how round it came out! I was surprised myself too! Hahaha. Then I tasted it, and it was too salty. I even resorted to adding milk and it's not that bad.

Collapse

Guess what, I fainted today, for the first time. I mean, there are times where I almost fainted but this time I collapsed. It's not a thing to boast about but I just wanted to get it off my chest somewhere. I didn't tell any of my family members about it because I knew that they are just gonna make a big fuss about it and I just really hate attention, so don't mind me! Just some random girl complaining over here. :)

Last Day

Today marks the last day of the first semester break and I'm simply saddened by it's arrival. Why is this semester break so short?
What productive things have I done except for watching endless animes and going on Tumblr?
Why do I feel so sluggish even though I haven't done much?
This semester's break has been a lonely one. But, nonetheless, I've got my Tumblr buddies to accompany me and they are such lovely sweethearts! :) If it's not them, I wouldn't even be trying to wake up every noon. I would have just stayed in bed and rot away.

Anyway, let's get started on the updates:

Shu Fei and I went to a Cat Cafe few days ago. We've been planning to go to cafes for ages but unforeseen circumstances kept getting in our way, thus not being able to go to any cafes earlier. We went there at it's opening hour and some other people were there too (I didn't expect there will be 5-6 other people coming this early and also that day wasn't a public holiday either) Here are some pictures:

This is my kind of paradise. Cats are seriously so cute and their fur is so smooth and soft. I would like to raise a kitten as a pet but my family members would definitely oppose to it because we've never raised any dogs/cats, so it would be troublesome and tedious for all of us to train it (like where they can do their business and such). We went there for an hour and it costs $12 (their rates: $12 for the first hour). Didn't stay any longer because Shu Fei gotta rush off to school and somewhere else after that. Also, we didn't buy any food from there as it's quite expensive and no one seems to be serving them yet. Hence, we went to get Astons for lunch. I bought another SmoothieKing to drink along and it's Banana Island this time. They even gave me a redemption card!
(My phone's camera is unable to auto-focus. I'm frustrated too, please let me change my phone to a better one asap.)
And here I am trying to draw:
They are all characters from Teen Titans, doesn't look like it, huh. My best one has gotta be StarFire at the top right hand corner, not bad right? By the way, it's Jinx, StarFire, Raven aand Robin that I've drawn, in case you can't recognise any of them because of my awful drawing skills. I've just finished the whole series from Season 1 to 5, plus the finale movie! And I'm started to miss the team already. I wish Cartoon Network would pick them up again and start a Season 6 because this yearning inside me is growing stronger. Just like how it's accumulating ever since HxH anime ended.
It's okay, I can entertain myself with Teen Titans Go!, the chibi version of Teen Titans. Hehehehe.

Smooth

I was so bored one day that I decided to drag my lazy feet out of the house and satisfy my wanderlust (kind of). Got myself dressed up and went to NEX to get my cup of smoothie from SmoothieKing after some research. It seems to promote healthy and good smoothies. Also, NEX is somewhere the youngsters would hang out after their school and I was so afraid to bump into any of my sec sch friends I didn't want them to know that I'm wandering about alone. I'm such a failure.
Sighs. Anyway, I got my hand on this smoothie called Angel Fruit (I think). Tastes like a mix of strawberries and bananas, it's pretty good actually. No wonder it's popular. Plus, the cup is made of styrofoam! The smoothie doesn't get warm nor does the cup collect water droplets on the outside. WONDERFUL.
Look at it:
The amount of smoothie there is is also a plus point (more than what Starbucks serve for the same cost). I've been walking around NEX and shopping through CottonOn and UNIQLO while drinking it and guess what, I was only 3/5 through the smoothie. If it was the Green Tea Latte in my hand, it would have been long gone. The amount is shocking. Would definitely go back and try the other flavours! :)

I went back to Northpoint after spending my time at NEX to shop the CottonOn here. I have nothing else better to do, sorry. Anyway, I didn't find anything worthy of my money there so I went to POPULAR to look for Khaled Hosseini books, particularly The Kite Runner. The tumblr users which I follows are highly recommending this particular author and so it got me curious. And they all recommended that starting from his first book would be ideal so as to get use to his writing style. His second book, A Thousand Splendid Suns, has gained much love from the readers, so I can't wait to get my hands on his books. Unfortunately, POPULAR isn't selling The Kite Runner or A Thousand Splendid Suns, but they do have his latest work: And The Mountains Echoed. I didn't get it because I wanna stick to reading his first book. Hence, I went to the library to look for them but to no avail. Instead, I borrowed The Salvation of a Saint by Keigo Higashino, the same author for The Devotion of Suspect X. I loved his books because it's so intriguing, the way he weaves through the crime and all.
Excited.

Another day, my family and I decided to go out for dinner and so we headed to Jack's Place and it sure is packed. Thankfully, we didn't have to wait too long for a table for four. The down side was, there weren't enough waiters so it took a while for them to take our order. Dinner was great nonetheless.
I ordered Grilled Salmon Steak and the salmon was heavenly. Hehehe.
Another waiter came afterwards to pour the condiments onto the baked potato and it tasted so much better.
I wanna enjoy a meal at their place again.

Help

And I'm still considering getting a few more pairs of jeans because my classrooms are air-conditioned so I would be cold if I wore the shorts. What should I do?

Monday 6 October 2014

Braids, curls, dyes.

This will be a post dedication about hair. Be warned.
So, I've been practicing to tie braids on my hair because I've got nothing else better to do and my hair is quite long. But it is still not long enough for me to tie a satisfying braid. Nonetheless, the one in the picture is not bad, I'm happy.

My hair is growing day by day but I've no idea what I should do with it. I mean, I certainly want to dye/highlight it at some point of time but I just can't decide when would be good. The coming semester or next year? Or maybe when I cut my hair short again? I just don't know and all those tumblr posts beautifying hair just makes me even more frustrated. Ugh. Like look at these:

Yes, I just love red hair, especially these first three pictures. The ombre effect on the second just looks amazing. And the shades of red in the first and third picture looks good too, almost orange-y.

The colour of the hair above is very pastel-like and I most probably wouldn't dye such colours onto my hair because it wouldn't look good on me but it just looks so pretty here.
And purple hair too, I like the dip dye effect of this.
If I'm going to dye/highlight my hair, it would be either red or purple or teal. That's it. I won't give in to other colours. So, here are more pictures of teal dyed hair:

Highlighting your hair is so cool, like it gives people a peek-a-boo of the colour and also adds to the mysterious aura around you. Do you feel me? I think teal would be best highlighted on hair because red would be a bit too old fashioned and purple would be too emo-ish.
